Tibetan Sound Healing (FLYER).png

January 11th 5pm

Everything existing in the universe represents the accumulation of numerous vibrations. This includes the human body, in which every organ and cell vibrate when exposed to a certain frequency. Sound healing represents a ritual of acoustic sound concert in the form of a meditation designed to encourage self healing. With the created sounds and instruments acting as a medium, our inner chaos and conflict can be reconfigured into a harmonious sense of calm centeredness, resonating through every cell of our body and mind.

The sounds being created work on the principle of entrainment. Entrainment is the process by which powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object are projected upon a second object with a similar frequency, thereby causing that object to vibrate in resonance with the first object. The sounds created by the gong + Tibetan singing bowls entrain the human organism, cutting through thoughts and emotions, offering physical, psychological, and spiritual relief. This entrainment can be measured using EEG (electroencephalography) by observing our brain wavelength transitioning from Beta waves (awake, alert, reactive) into:

Alpha (calm, creative, relaxed)

Delta (meditative, deep relaxation)

Theta (deep sleep).

In these deeper states the mind-body systems are retuned, resulting in profound self healing effects. Experiencing sound healing can have many different effects on the mind and body. Students can expect to notice varying emotions that rise to the surface, including fear, anger, joy, and bliss. Just as in the practice of yoga, students should be aware of these emotions and thoughts without any judgement, allowing the ego to fall away and the vibrations to transform through layers of the body. Students may experience wandering or clear thoughts, deep rest and relaxation, or possibly even sleep.

During a sound healing event, students typically lay comfortably on the floor in savasana, but a favorite meditation seat or gentle yoga poses are welcomed.
Students are encouraged to:

-wear comfortable clothing

-bring yoga props (bolsters, blankets) for support

-Avoid eating a heavy meal 2 hours beforehand

-be well hydrated

Some blankets & bolsters will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please do bring your own yoga mat.
